Breakfast Sausage Seasoning
Share
This last fall we butchered our pigs, it was the first time we have ever had pigs, and we didn’t know what to expect really.
So when we put our order in for the cuts we wanted we ended up with just some plain sausage. Which at first I was a little baffled by, but now have grown to love. For two reasons. 1. I can make any sausage I want which is at little to no extra cost to me. and 2. I know exactly what is going into my sausage blend for seasoning and that makes me happy!
It really couldn’t be more simple than just adding your seasonings, and a pound of sausage and mix well.
Once its mixed shape into patties, I took a pound of hamburger and made them in to 5-6 little patties.
I slapped them down on a cast iron skillet. You can obviously use any pan to cook them in but let me tell you, there is nothing like a cast iron breakfast. The sound, the smell, the taste. Everything!
Cook on one side about 4-5 minutes, then flip them over to the other side to finish cooking. In the mean time I was getting French toast ready, and get some eggs out to fry up with the left over grease from the patties! My boys are big breakfast fans around here, especially a Saturday morning breakfast.
Now you can take this recipe and triple it so you can have a little jar of break fast seasonings. (this is what I do with my homemade taco seasoning! Recipe coming soon! It's so good and so easy!) Or you can just keep it as is for just 1 pound of ground sausage.
Happy breakfast making!
