Homemade Buttery Flaky Biscuits
Share
This weekend was extremely cold here in Minnesota. We spent the weekend going to the Stockade in Forest City, where you walk around a small village replica of how it was to live in the 1800’s. People dressed in old clothes, bonnets and long dresses show you how they would have liked in the old days. There’s buffalo stew, homemade ice cream, and our favorite (and probably everyones) FRY BREAD! ohhhhh yum. This will be my next adventure, my grandma use to make fry bread in her cabin and it was to die for. We made a stop at the forest city tavern for a pizza, beer (or root beers) and some old fashioned candy. Harlen was over the moon picking his candies out.
After we got home we were pretty chilled to the bone but the boys were adamant about playing outside still. So I put on some wild rice soup and made some biscuits for when they were ready to come in.. and let me tell you… Nothing is better on a cold winter day than coming into the house with the smell of fresh homemade buttery flaky biscuits.
Of course I forgot an after photo. But here’s a few tips!
I mix as much as I can and then knead the rest, You only need to knead until it's mixed! roughly 15-30 times! If you don’t have a biscuit cutter use the mouth of a glass! (a mason jar gives the perfect sized biscuit!)
I wait to take them out of the oven until the tops are just touched with a light golden brown.
If you make these let me know! Enjoy!!
